UPDATES:

Townsville City Council has established Townsville 2021 – 2026 which sets the strategic direction for Council as we all work together to grow Townsville. This plan ensures that we provide intentional leadership on the way the city grows into the future.

The plan has five goals guided by an overarching mission to add 6,400 new jobs into the city by 2026:

  1. A city that connects you to what you need at the time you choose.

  2. A circular economy that advances business and moves towards zero waste.

  3. The hub for modern industry.

  4. A sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, sports, events and recreational activities.

  5. A leading centre of education, training and research commercialisation.

Through these goals Council is supporting industry led initiatives that embody the circular economy, use renewable energy, create future industries in the city and support the creation of ongoing jobs.

To support development of Townsville as a key Australian hydrogen hub Council will deliver key enabling common user infrastructure that provides recycled or raw water to facilitate hydrogen proponents producing export scale green hydrogen by 2030.
